Ballater’s Old Royal Station is one for the history books. Most of the 19^th century royalty passed through this station alongside their guests and visitors at one time or another. After suffering a disastrous fire in 2015, the station has officially reopened as a tourist information centre, providing a souvenir shop, bistro and tearoom, a museum and exhibition celebrating the station’s links with royalty. Only a 15 min drive outside of Ballater, head to the Royal Lochnagar Distillery where you can uncover more royal connections of the past with a distillery tour. Make sure you book ahead.
