Tentsmuir National Nature Reserve
Seals, snow bunting and shifting sands, there's something for everyone at Tentsmuir. Whether you want to explore some of the paths and trails, take in the magnificent views at the beach or spend time in one of the bird hides looking out for rarities, Tentsmuir has it all.

Road Directions
Morton Lochs: Head south from Tayport on the B945 for 1.7 miles, then take a sharp left onto a minor road which leads to the car park (total distance of 2.5 miles). The road to the car park is single track, with limited passing places and an aggregate surface. There are no height or width restrictions.
Tayport: Park in the town of Tayport and follow the Fife Coastal Path to Tayport Heath or continue along the path to Tentsmuir Point.
Kinshaldy: Follow the brown 'Kinshaldy Beach' signs from the church in the middle of Leuchars village. A charge of £2 per vehicle applies, payable at the electronic barrier. Please have the correct change available. Car park charges are re-invested into the Forestry Commission Scotland maintenance and improvements programme. A seasonal barrier pass is available for a fee of £50. Please contact Tay Forest District Office for more information. Horse boxes are not allowed in the main car park; however alternative parking is available at Kinshaldy stables.
Public Transport Directions
By Public Transport: The nearest bus stops are in Tayport and Leuchars. Buses will stop by request at the Morton Loch road end. The nearest train station is Leuchars (3.2 miles from the Kinshaldy car park) on the Edinburgh - Aberdeen line.
By Bike: The Falkland to Monifieth via St Andrews section of National Cycle Network Route 1 (Edinburgh - Aberdeen) passes Kinshaldy Beach.
On Foot: The St Andrews to Tay Bridge section of the Fife Coastal Path runs through Tentsmuir NNR. Tayport Heath to the north of the Reserve is easily accessed on foot from the village of Tayport.
