Newton of Fothringham is a farm with a difference. In the peaceful, idyllic setting of Angus, Scotland, lies the traditional, working, family run farm that offers not just a well-deserved break in the farmhouse bed and breakfast or self catering cottage, but memories to last a life time.
On arrival at Newton Farmhouse you will find the car park is conveniently located next to the guest entrance with the added benefit of CCTV coverage of the parking area. After we have welcomed you into our home, decorated throughout with aspects of nature, we will settle you into our charming, family room en-suite perfectly located on the ground floor, so after a day of exploring you don’t have to carry your luggage up stairs.
With a small en-suite shower and wc, our large family room is smartly decorated in a relaxed country style offering magnificent, panoramic views across the farm towards Carrot hill to the South. Comprising one double bed and one double sofa bed, our family room can sleep up to four guests as single, double, twin or family occupancy, and as a child friendly home we have a cot available by request, and other baby/toddler accessories as required. Pet friendly also by prior arrangement.
To make your stay as comfortable as possible we have added many extras including a selection of teas with coffee & hot chocolate making facilities, pilsner beer and wine glasses, mini fridge, 39” LCD digital television, DVD, radio alarm clock, ipod dock, electric shaver socket, ironing facilities, hairdryer, trouser press and comfortable seating all within the guest room. For your added enjoyment a selection of books, magazines, local information and DVD’s are available.
There are many lighting options within the guest room so you can create your own ambience, relax and read in the evening or perhaps catch up with work. Free guest wifi is available but as this is rural Scotland it is not fast.
I hope you find our thoughtful extras useful during your stay. We also provide luxury Scottish handmade organic toiletries and our linen and towels are luxurious Egyptian cotton keeping you snug and cosy. The farmhouse has central heating throughout and the guest room has its own controllable radiator and heated towel rail so you can adjust the temperature to suit your preference. With blackout blinds, thick stone walls, dark starry nights with the peace and quiet of the countryside you can be assured of a restful night’s sleep.
In the morning we offer a full, traditional, hearty, Scottish or continental breakfast, cooked to your requirements, in our dramatic, red and gold dining room. Included is a selection of fresh fruit, yoghurt & cereals, orange juice, tea, coffee and toast with jam or marmalade. Our fresh produce is our own or locally sourced Angus and Scottish so you can be assured of quality which is why we were one of the first businesses to be awarded the VisitScotland Taste Our Best award.
We are lucky enough to have our own hens which means our eggs are fabulous with a rich yellow yolk. When seasonally available we serve ripe and juicy raspberries and strawberries from a local farm. Our sausages and bacon are of superior quality supplied by our local butcher, Scott Brothers. We will request your breakfast order the evening before so it is perfectly ready for you in the morning, and prevents waste in line with our Green Tourism Gold award.
Packed lunches are available at a small extra charge by prior arrangement.
