WOODMILL ARCHES
Woodmill Arches is a luxurious rural retreat for two situated next to Woodmill House.
Incredibly spacious, superbly comfortable and stylishly contemporary with masses of natural light, this is a wonderful haven for people wanting somewhere a bit different to stay. Along with top quality fittings throughout and a biomass heating system, there's a huge television, an 8-speaker bluetooth sound system and a deliciously bouncy carpet to pad about on. The extent of the space, the quality of the build and the calm, stylish interior design all contribute to an exceptional level of feelgood when you stay here.
The front door takes you into a large tiled hall with a woodburning stove and an old school radiator beneath sturdy coat hooks which provides a good drying area. There is plenty of room to leave boots, golf clubs and countryside clothing, and there are slippers to change into before you head upstairs to the main living area. The hall is quite a feature in its own right for its contemporary design style, with added interest from artworks that have been installed by the owner, Clare Wade. Clare is a professional Lighting Consultant at Cat Lighting and she will be pleased to show you the lighting effects around the property which doubles as her lighting showroom.
Upstairs there is a large, airy open plan sitting and dining area with comfortable seating and smart black units. A main feature is the fabulous arched window to the west which sunshine streams through in the summer evenings, ideal for enjoying a relaxing drink at the end of the day .
There is a micro-kitchen contained in a small alcove which has a kettle, toaster, coffee machine and fridge and is stocked with breakfast basics. Please note that other than a microwave there are no cooking facilities.
The bedroom is very spacious and has a superking bed which can convert to two singles. There is plenty of storage and floor space and very attractive stone alcoves that are softly lit at night.
The bathroom is modern with a rain shower, stylish black fittings and underfloor heating. Good quality linen and towels are provided along with basic toiletries.
Woodmill is ideally situated for those wanting somewhere to feel at home for golfing holidays, walking weekends or simply just escaping for a quiet undisturbed break.
THE LOCATION
We are surrounded by countryside and there are lovely walks around the (gentle) hills straight from the front door. Fife offers plenty in the way of outdoor activities, notably golf - we are 4 miles from the Ladybank Championship Golf Course, and within half an hour of the magnificent choice of courses around St Andrews, loch fishing and other country sports (deer stalking can be arranged by the owners, please enquire).
Particular local attractions include the National Trust village of Falkland (5 miles), historic St Andrews with its famous golf course and wonderful beach (17 miles), and the charming fishing villages around the East Neuk coast (20 miles).
Woodmill is the base of the Wade family business, Woodmill Game, where a range of delicious wild game products are prepared for sale through Farmers Markets and other rural and online outlets. If you wish, during your stay you could take the opportunity to see pheasant and venison sausages being made, or learn to pluck a pheasant, or take part in a deer butchery class run by the owner Steven Wade.
Steven and his wife Clare have been providing accommodation for visitors from around the world for over 15 years and look after their guests with great care and attention.
