Step into the great outdoors and see Grey Mare’s Tail, a dramatic waterfall with a plunging 60 m drop. As well as seeing cascading streams tumble into the Moffat Water Valley, you can gaze upon a landscape marked by glacial erosion from millions of years ago. For a more strenuous walk, follow the route from the viewing platform to Loch Skeen. The path is rough and steep but the views from White Coomb are spectacular, plus you might spot peregrine falcons, feral goats or even ospreys. Nearby in the town of Moffat , there’s a good choice of bars, pubs and cafés as well as attractions, including the Moffat Museum, housed in an old bakery, and Station Park, home to a boating pond.
