The beautifully restored 18th century Dumfries House is one of the most significant examples of the Scottish Enlightenment. Designed by the renowned Robert Adam, and saved when it was brought to the attention of HRH Prince Charles in 2007, it's been lovingly restored to its former glory and includes a substantial collection of furniture designer Thomas Chippendale's work. A jewel in the crown of Britain's stately homes, visitors can enjoy guided tours of the impressive interior of the house or explore the grounds which include riverside walks, a doo'cot and lots of wildlife.
