Founded in 1446 by Sir William St Clair, the chapel was built as a place of worship but had never finished completion when the founder had died in 1484. He can easily be forgiven though as the creation of this beautiful gothic building has attracted visitors far and wide. Take in a free talk where you will uncover the chapel’s history as well as being shown some of the key carvings. Lucifer, the Seven Deadly Sins and the Star of Bethlehem and the Nativity are just a taster of the outstanding details you’ll learn more about. After soaking up all the history, make sure to pop into the visitor centre. Since opening in May 2012, its clear to see why this attraction has been given the royal seal of approval. Enjoy fun interactive exhibits which explore the interior of the chapel or get into character by playing dress up for a taste of Medieval life.
Rosslyn Chapel has also enjoyed the glitz and glamour of Hollywood after making a star appearance in the 2006 film, The Davinci Code.
