There is lots of fun to be had at Chatelherault Country Park in Ferniegair near Hamilton. The park comprises of 500 acres of countryside and woodland surrounding an 18th century hunting lodge, with miles of pathways, an adventure playground, and formal gardens to enjoy. Walk amongst 600-year-old oaks, cross over an 80 ft (24 m) gorge on Dukes Bridge and pass the ruins of Cadzow Castle. Other local country parks include Strathclyde Country Park in Motherwell and Calderglen Country Park in East Kilbride. On the way to the park, keen gardeners should stop by Brookside Garden Centre, one of many garden centres along the route.
