RSPB Dunnet Head Nature Reserve

North and West Highlands

Even if it’s for the sole purpose of saying you’ve visited the most northerly point of mainland Britain, a trip to RSPB Dunnet Head shouldn’t be missed. This stunning stretch of sea cliffs juts out into the Pentland Firth and is home to thriving populations of many beautiful seabirds, including puffins, guillemots and fulmars. Hike out to the lighthouse and pause to enjoy the wildlife, as well as the sweeping sea views (look out for Orkney on the horizon too!).
