For spectacular views over Rothesay, to the Firth of Clyde, Cowal Peninsula and beyond, look no further than Canada Hill. And while the views from the top are stunning, the journey to get there, up Serpentine Road, is all the more impressive, when you consider there’s 14 hairpin bends to contend with!
At only half a mile long, the ascent of Serpentine Road has long been hailed as one of the country’s most technically challenging cycle routes, and it’s certainly not for the faint hearted on two wheels. It’s also one of the focal points of the annual Rothesay Weekend of Cycling.
Simply follow the signs for Canada Hill from the Rothesay’s main square. And if you’re not quite up to the cycling challenge, you can always enjoy a leisurely stroll instead.
