On board a boat, you might:
- Sail the Caledonian Canal and visit wonderful attractions, including the ruins of Urquhart Castle on Loch Ness.
- Go with a skipper and a crew - navigation, deck chores and delicious meals are sorted, so all you need to do is unwind.
- Hop aboard a boat on Scotland's west coast and spot wildlife as you journey around Argyll's islands, or even up to the Outer Hebrides.
- Stay central; stay still. Book a static houseboat or a city centre 'boatel' on a canal and enjoy the simple pleasures of life on water without the need for sea legs.

Boathouses
If a holiday on board a boat sounds just a tad too adventurous, but Scotland's fine waters still appeal to you, then consider the merits of a boathouse:
- Often set in secluded locations - the perfect way to enjoy a peaceful and romantic getaway.
- The buildings are quite often historic, and many come tastefully decorated, with open fireplaces, exposed beams and period features as well as other luxurious touches.
- You might even have your own private loch, or a deck overlooking the water, perfect for al fresco breakfasts.
