The Paps of Jura
Located off the mainland's west coast, the Isle of Jura is known for its soaring mountains, whisky, swirling whirlpools and wild roaming deer. Regular ferry crossings run throughout the day from Port Askaig on Islay to Port Feolin on Jura. The crossing takes only 5 minutes and the ferry operates all year.
From early April till late September you can also board the Jura passenger ferry at Tayvallich on the mainland and arrive at Port Craighouse in less than an hour. Find the timetable and book tickets with Calmac.

A daily bus service operates from Glasgow’s Buchanan Street Bus Station which makes the connection with the ferry at Kennacraig. Check the timetable schedules for exact departure times at Citylink. The journey time takes approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes.

The closest major city to Jura is Glasgow. From here, follow the A82 to Loch Lomond and then join the A83 at Tarbet. The road continues all the way to the Port of Kennacraig where you can catch the ferry.
Loganair run a twice daily 45 minute scheduled service, from Glasgow International Airport to Islay Glenegadale.

Hebridean Air Services fly to and from the neighbouring island of Islay on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Garelochhead Coaches operates a bus service around Jura's main towns from Monday to Saturday. The 456 bus travels between Port Feolin and Inverlussa (via Craighouse).
Get out on the water with Jura Boat Tours which offers bespoke RIB tours.
You can also explore Jura by foot, bike or boat. Hire a bike or bring your own, both by ferry from Islay.
The easiest way to navigate Jura is by car, especially if your visit is short on time and you want to see more remote spots on the island. If you haven't brought your own vehicle on the ferry, it is possible to hire a car on the island.
