How to find your castle

If you've not already thought about the type of castle you'd like to be married in, or the location, then there's plenty for you to consider!

Choose your fairy-tale castle

Did you know you can get hitched in Edinburgh Castle, a historic fortress in the heart of Scotland's capital city? Or perhaps you'd prefer to wed in a majestic Baronial castle, romantically set in a secluded glen? Alternatively, imagine being transported along a winding, tree-lined driveway in a classic car, with your guests eagerly awaiting your arrival at a 15th-century clifftop tower house.

Tailor your day

At some castles, you can hold every part of your wedding day within the castle walls. Say your vows in a lavish drawing room, enjoy a glass of fizz in the courtyard or an ornamental garden, and dance the night away at a reception beneath the chandeliers of a grand ballroom. When it all draws to an end, feel like a king or queen as you retire with your new spouse to a four-poster bed in a turreted bedroom.

If you want to get married elsewhere before heading to your own majestic castle for your reception then there are many castles that offer reception-only packages, while many couples choose the increasingly popular option of holding the reception in a pretty marquee, decorated to your own taste, in the castle grounds.

Take stunning photos to look back on

The castle exterior, gardens and grounds will make an exquisite backdrop for your wedding photos, whatever the season. Think blossoming snowdrops and bluebells in late winter and early spring, bursts of colour in the summer months, a rich collage of golds, oranges and reds in autumn and Narnia-like wonderlands in winter.
